Upcoming! Excited event combining BE-LIGHT Workshop 2 & Hands-on Training 2 in Göttingen

BE-LIGHT Workshop 2 & Hands-on Training 2: Advancing Expertise in Biomedical Imaging

The BE-LIGHT community is gearing up for one of the most anticipated events of the year: Workshop 2 and Hands-on Training 2, taking place from April 27–30, 2026, in Göttingen, Germany, hosted by Universitätsmedizin Göttingen.

This event offers a unique combination of high-level training in advanced imaging techniques and the opportunity to engage with leading experts in the field—including Nobel Prize laureate Prof. Stefan Hell, a pioneer of super-resolution microscopy.

Hands-on Training 2: Practical Learning Experience

Held on April 27–28, this intensive training will focus on two key areas:

Neuroimaging and Diagnosis

Participants will explore cutting-edge imaging approaches for neurological assessment, alongside practical diagnostic workflows. Training will take place in small groups, ensuring close interaction with expert instructors and hands-on experience.

Cardiac Imaging and Quantitative Analysis

This module will introduce advanced cardiac imaging techniques, including a lecture by Prof. Joachim Lotz. Participants will gain experience in data interpretation and analysis through guided practical sessions in rotating groups.

Learning from Leading Experts: BE-LIGHT Workshop 2

From April 28–30, the program continues with Workshop 2, organized by the group of Prof. Daniel Razansky (University of Zurich and ETH Zurich).

A key highlight of the workshop will be the keynote lecture by Prof. Stefan Hell, titled:

“How to overcome a supposed scientific barrier… and what to make of it”

The session will include an interactive discussion, offering participants a rare opportunity to engage directly with the Nobel laureate.

Developing Transversal Skills

Beyond technical training, the program also includes two dedicated courses led by MSc Alex Britz, focusing on essential professional skills:

Scientific Presentation & Communication

  • Research presentations by BE-LIGHT fellows with expert feedback
  • “Science in a Pint” outreach event for the general public
  • Social evening to foster networking among fellows and principal investigators

Career Development & Networking

  • Career strategies for academia and industry
  • How to build a strong CV
  • Preparation for scientific job interviews
