Very soon: BE-LIGHT Hands-On Training 1-3 and Workshop 3 in Barcelona

The BE-LIGHT Doctoral Network is pleased to announce its upcoming training and networking event, which will take place in Barcelona from 28 September to 2 October 2026. The programme combines two specialised Hands-On Trainings and Workshop 3, bringing together fellows, supervisors, researchers and invited experts for a week of scientific training, knowledge exchange and professional development.

The event will be jointly hosted by three BE-LIGHT partners:

• Instituto de Microcirugía Ocular (IMO Grupo Miranza)
• Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC)

 

Programme Highlights

Hands-On Training 3: Microscopy for Medical Diagnosis

28-29 September 2026
Hospital Sant Joan de Déu (SJD)

The first two days will focus on advanced microscopy techniques for biomedical research and medical diagnosis, combining lectures and hands-on sessions on imaging technologies, AI-assisted analysis and practical laboratory applications.

Hands-On Training 1: Ophthalmic Imaging Instruments

30 September 2026
Instituto de Microcirugía Ocular (IMO Barcelona)

The third day will focus on ophthalmic imaging technologies, combining key topics such as retinal imaging, OCT and corneal assessment with practical demonstrations using advanced clinical instruments.

Workshop 3

1–2 October 2026
Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Campus Nord

Workshop 3 will include scientific presentations, transferable skills training and networking activities for fellows and supervisors. Key topics cover technology transfer, intellectual property and research funding, alongside fellows’ presentations organised by work package. Participants may also join a visit to the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) on Friday (registration required).

• Which days they will attend.
• Whether they will participate in the networking dinner on Thursday, 1 October.
• Whether they wish to join the visit to the Barcelona Supercomputing Center.
