BE-LIGHT’s kick-off meeting has taken place
BE-LIGHT has officially started! The kick-off meeting of BE-LIGHT has taken place in Barcelona during the 8th and 9th of November at the north campus of Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC).
Europe’s leading experts in photonic techniques and machine learning algorithms from 7 top academic institutions (MPI, UZH, UGOE, NCU, PG, SU, UPC) and 3 internationally recognized hospitals (IMO, UMG, FSJD) were there to discuss the organisation aspects of a project that will bring major new advances in the current diagnostic and therapeutic techniques of eye diseases, cardiovascular diseases and degenerative diseases.
Prof. Meritxell Vilaseca led the sessions and helped the researchers to take a complete overview of all relevant aspects that will make up the following years of the BE-LIGHT project: objectives, deliverables and milestones, ethics issues and network organisation, etc.
Researchers also made their interventions, explaining in short scientific presentations what lines of research are carried out in their laboratories, what facilities they have available and what objectives they hope to achieve within BE-LIGHT. Supervisors and co-supervisors of the projects had the opportunity to discuss how they will collaborate and come up with possible training activities for their PhD candidates.
These discussions continued in a more enjoyable way during the KOM’s welcome dinner 😊 in the emblematic district of El Born, where partners were able to enjoy a fine selection of Spanish tapas.
